Spelling Bee Top Spellers!

There were some very busy spelling beeees on campus this week. Just shy of 200 students participated in the first round of competition, including our top spellers (check your emails for that list), who will move to the second round.  Grade-level oral competition will take place next week, with 2nd grade on Wednesday, December 14 at 8:30 am, 4th grade later that morning at 9:30 am, and 1st grade that same day at 10:30 am. 3rd grade will compete on Thursday, December 15 at 8:30 am, 5th grade later that morning at 9:30 am, and 6th grade that same day at 10:30 am.

____

Beeeee ready Dragons, it’s Phoebe Hearst Spelling Bee time.

Over the course of the next few weeks, students will work to become the 2022-23 PhoeBee champion. They will have a chance to review lists and study words during the Thanksgiving Break, in time for our first round of grade-level written competitions, which take place on campus the week of December 5-9.  Students who advance to the next round will participate in oral competition the week of December 12

The top spellers from each grade level will show off their stuff in a school-wide competition in early January. We will work off of the official Scripps National Spelling Bee lists to begin with (those were sent home to families right before the Thanksgiving break) – but spellers should beeeee prepared to see some challenge and famously misspelled words as the competition heats up.

There might even be a state or two, including Mr. Martin’s all-time favorite state to spell that begins with an “M”! In order for your student to participate, please fill out the form available through the link here. Please contact [email protected] if you have questions or would like additional information.
