Spelling Bee, Talent Show, Kinder Enrollment

Good evening, Phoebe families,

Spelling Bee

A big congratulations to our Spelling Bee champion, Yuta Ransibrahmanakul.  The competition was tough but Yuta held strong and will be advancing to the next stage of the competition.  Our second place winner is Jeremy Lee and our third place winner is Jayden Martin.  Congrats to all of our Phoebe contestants for their bravery and perseverance.

Clubs

We have heard much feedback from families that students are hungry for social interaction during distance learning.  In the next month you will be hearing about after-school clubs led by our very own Phoebe teachers.  These clubs will have various themes catered to our students interests.  As of now, these clubs will be virtual.  We will need parent volunteers to help with these clubs so stay tuned.  If you have an idea for a club please send me an email or call the front office.

Phoebe’s Got Talent

Plans are in the works for our annual Phoebe’s Got Talent Show.  If your child has a special talent that they would like to show off, this is the event for them.  This event will take place later in spring and as of now will be held virtually.  Talents come in various ways so don’t be shy, we would love to see our students in action.  Be on the lookout for sign-up information in the next coming months.

Kinder enrollment

Do you have a prospective kindergarten child for the 2021-22 school year?  Please make sure that you are checking the website for the open enrollment dates.  You may also call the office with any questions and we will be happy to help.

Art for our Website

We are looking for students who would like to create banner art for our website.  Students are welcome to submit those drawings to yuliya-vathis@scusd.edu. Take a look at our website for ideas and get those drawings in.

Thank you,

Good evening, Phoebe families,

New Materials Pick-up/Drop-off Procedure

As our community sees a rise in our COVID cases and our region was recently put on a stay at home order, Phoebe will have new materials pick up protocols beginning tomorrow, December 14th. Our office hours will remain the same which is 7:30-3:30 Monday – Friday. However, we ask that all families drive up and wait in the circle drop off in front of the office when picking up student materials. You will then call our front office phone number 916-395-4685 and a member of our staff will bring your child’s items to you. We ask that you please wear a mask. This new procedure will ensure the safety of our staff and community as we get through these winter months.

Do you know of any prospective families that are interested in having their children attend Phoebe for the 2021-22 school year? Tours are coming up during the month of January. Please share this sign up link with any families that may be interested in seeing what our school is all about.

Jog-A-Thon, SSC, Spirit Week…

Good evening, Phoebe families,

I want to thank all those who have been actively collecting pledges and gearing up for our Jog-A-Thon. The timeline for the Jog-A-Thon has changed by one week. The virtual Jog-a-Thon will take place the week of November 16th-20th. Accordingly, the deadline to turn in pledges and the swag size form has been extended to Monday, October 26th. You have another week to get those pledges in. Also, the drive-thru swag pick up will be the week of November 9th. All supporting information can be found at this link.

Have you had a chance to look at our election ballot for School Site Council? Please take a moment to and vote for no more than two candidates. The election will close on Friday, October 23rd at 5:00pm. The two candidates with the most votes will be announced in next Sunday’s recorded message to families.

Don’t forget about Spirit Week during the week of October 26th – 30th. The daily themes ( illustrated on our website by on-call artists) are as follows:

Monday 26th – Silly Socks
Tuesday 27th – Silly Hair
Wednesday 28th – Mismatch
Thursday 29th – Dragon Pride
Friday 30th – Orange & Black

We had over 350 responses to our lunch time survey from families. The results are as follows: 52.8% of families would prefer to move our lunch time to 11:30am, 28.2% are agreeable to either lunch time, and 18.9% would like to keep the 10:55am lunch time. Listening to the feedback of our families, we will be moving our lunch time to 11:30am beginning Monday, October 26th, to give working families time to make adjustments to their schedules. This lunch time will be applicable to all students in 1st – 6th grade.
