Weekly Announcements 9/14

Good evening Phoebe families,

I hope you had a chance to rest and relax on your weekend. This will be our first full week of Distance Learning. I appreciated the feedback that I received from families regarding how your child’s first week went. Our staff is working very hard on meeting the needs of our students. There may have been technical issues that were out of our control but teachers, students and families were able to problem solve and work together. Thank you for your patience.

One thought I wanted to share with you is that this pandemic has affected all of us in unique ways. I read a quote this week that stated that we are all in the same storm; however, we are all driving different boats. Being sensitive to the specific needs of our students and families is our focus here at Phoebe. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or myself if your child is in need of support.

This month our social-emotional learning (SEL) theme is Collaboration. I have attached a family resource guide for you to read as your children are learning about this in their classes for the month of September.

Mark your calendar for September 30th. That will be our first Dine and Donate at Chipotle. More information to come.

Finally, please take a look at our Parent Teacher Organization’s newsletter for the month of September.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Weekly Announcements 9/7

Good evening Phoebe families,

I hope you had time to rest and relax during this 3-day weekend. Our Phoebe team is very excited to get started with our teaching and learning for the 20-21 school year. Our commitment is to engage with students and families and communicate out information in the ever changing world that we are currently immersed in. Know that we are here for you. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Tomorrow will be our first day of full distance learning. Please refer to the daily schedules that were sent to families on Saturday for your child’s schedule based on their grade level.

Do you have questions about Clever, student account information, or forms that may need to be filled out? If so, please visit the district webpage that has a one stop of information for our first days of school.

If you have not had the chance, please fill out our Digital Emergency Card to update any vital contact information for your child. Please fill out the form once for every child at Phoebe.

As always, our Phoebe Website and Phoebe Facebook Page are wonderful sources of information for families, as well.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

First Day of School

SCUSD has announced that synchronous learning (i.e., Zoom time) for the first two days of school will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. After 10:00am, students will partake in asynchronous learning while teachers participate in required training.

Students should have received information from their teachers as to where to login for virtual classes. If parents or students have not received an email, please check your spam filters as SCUSD emails have recently begun going to spam for many email providers, including Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo, and Gmail.

Principal’s Zoom & Emergency Contact Information

Good evening Phoebe families,

I wanted to thank everyone for their patience as we had all of our materials distributions this week.  I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of our Phoebe community.  If your child still requires a Chromebook please email Desiree Pierson.

I appreciate all of the response to the Principal’s Informational Zoom survey.  There were under 200 families that responded.  As such, we will be able to host all families in one Zoom session.  The Zoom meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 31st from 5:30pm-6:30pm.  I will ask that you not post Zoom meeting login information to any social media to protect the privacy of our families that are attending. The login information is in the email you received on August 28.

In lieu of our normal Emergency Card paper copies submitted to our front office every year, we are asking that you update your information in a more socially distanced manner.  Please take a moment to fill out this digital emergency card. It is important that we have your updated information so that we may contact you when needed.

Please note that September 7th, Labor Day, is a holiday and there will be no school on this day.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
