Phoebe Events and Updates

Hello Dragon Families,

This Friday, February 28th will be a free dress Friday.

We are looking for a few parent volunteers that would be willing to take over our Robotics Club.  You do NOT need to know anything about robotics to help.  We are at risk of losing this program as the previous parent coaches have changes in their schedules and can no longer help manage and provide this program for all of our students; if you are a parent that likes science, robotics and loves to teach and learn together with your child, this program is a perfect way to formalize that interest, please reach out to Yuliya and we can get you connected with the parents that did it last year to discuss and help us bring this program back for the 2020-2021 school year.

Read Across America Week will be from March 2nd – 6th.  It will be a full spirit week.  Here are the themes for each day:

  • Monday – Daisy Head Mayzie – Crazy Hair Day (Free Dress)
  • Tuesday – Oh, the Places You’ll Go – Wear a shirt from your favorite Middle School, High School or College
  • Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday – Wear Mismatched Clothes
  • Thursday – Fox in Socks – Wear wacky socks (Free Dress)
  • Friday – Cat in the Hat – Dress as Thing one and/or Thing two day

Thank you and have a wonderful evening!

Screenagers

Hello Phoebe Families,

Our Screenagers night is fast approaching.  If you have not had an opportunity to sign-up, there is still time.  The documentary will begin promptly at 5:00pm on Thursday, February 20th.  If you have signed your children up for the art night with Dream Enrichment, please plan to be here 30 minutes early to sign them in.  We will have Chando’s Taco Truck here on campus if you would like to purchase dinner.  We have the opportunity to have a few Sutter Middle School staff to participate in the post-screening discussion as well.  We are very much looking forward to this informative and highly interactive evening centered around student’s social emotional wellness with regard to navigating the digital world.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Willy Wonka Jr. this Spring!

Due to the popularity of the Young Actor’s stage fall show, we have brought STC on to produce a Spring Musical. This year will be the production of Willy Wonka Jr.!  This smaller production (open to 2nd-6th graders) will have a more intensive theater focus with rehearsals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:30-5:00 pm. Students choose an audition time on the STC website and come prepared with any song of their choice and a monologue/poem. The program will accept up to 50 students which will be based on the auditions.

Lunar New Year Assembly

Hello Dragon Families,

An email went out last night inviting families to come and join their children to watch Eastern Ways perform, celebrating Lunar New Year tomorrow, February 12th.  Due to a scheduling conflict they need to come a little earlier in the day.  They will be performing for the school at 12:45pm on the black top.  If you have a Kindergarten student, feel free to come on over after pick up.  All are invited to come and enjoy this very colorful and engaging performance.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

Phoebe Updates for this Week

Hello Dragon Families,

I wanted to give our PTO a shout out for the fantastic job they did on the Family Dance.  I had a blast and most importantly, the students did too!  Here are a few updates for this week:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 11th is our 100th day of school! I can’t believe it is going by so fast.
  • On Wednesday, Feb. 12th Eastern Ways will perform on the blacktop at 12:45pm, celebrating Lunar New Year.  I want to invite any families/parents to come and enjoy the show with their children.   [Time corrected to 12:45pm on 2/11.]
  • Friday, Feb. 14th is Valentine’s Day.  We will have a school-wide spirit day.  Students may wear red or pink…..and yes, blue jeans are acceptable on this day.
  • Monday, Feb. 17th is a holiday.  There will be no school.
  • Screenagers is fast approaching.  If you have not had a chance to sign-up please do so.  We need an accurate count for our Dream Enrichment Art Night as well as how many plan to attend the documentary.  Also, I have arranged for Chando’s Taco Truck to come and park on the blacktop from 4:00-5:30pm.  Come early and purchase your dinner and eat while you watch.  Lastly, I have arranged for a few Sutter teachers to participate in a panel discussion after the showing.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

February 2020 Newsletter

Good Evening Phoebe Families,

On February 20th from 5:00-7:00pm, PTO will host a Screenagers showing in the cafeteria.  Screenagers is a documentary that reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. Here’s the details to RSVP…

Families have expressed interest in including older children to view the screening. The answer is absolutely – with the recommendation that you view the trailer first. The documentary’s recommendation is age 10 and up.

For those with elementary children not ready for the screening, parents can sign up for their kids to attend a free art night put on by Dream Enrichment that will be at Phoebe at the same time of the screening. If you plan to attend, please RSVP using the following link: SCREENAGERS

The Cotton Shoppe will be open for the month of February.

Open enrollment is happening right now.  Please let any one know that has a child interested in attending Phoebe to go online and fill out the form.  Also, if your child will be moving to middle school you will need to go through the open enrollment process again if your child plans to attend a middle school that is NOT their home school.  Please call the office if you have any questions.

Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
