January Newsletter

Dear Phoebe Families,

Before we send you off for the Winter Holiday, let’s take a moment to thank the entire Phoebe Hearst community for its efforts with this month’s holiday drive.  Kindergarten collected 791 pairs of socks, First Grade collected 485 toothbrushes and toothpaste bottles, Second Grade collected 452 body wash bottles and soap, Third Grade collected 257 Q-tips, tissues, and hand sanitizer bottles, Fourth Grade collected 149 shampoo and conditioner bottles, Fifth Grade collected 307 bottles of lotion and washcloths, and Sixth Grade collected 934 healthy packaged snacks – WOW!  To be able to provide basic human necessities to those in need is a privilege and I am proud of our efforts, as always!  Additionally, let us thank Sarah Asuncion for taking on the huge task of organizing and running the Craft Fair – it was a glittered, crafty, packed house. We were also treated to some first and second grade caroling, so let us recognize Mrs. Toone for preparing our kids so well, thank you!

Looking ahead to January, our school tours begin (each Wednesday at 9am, beginning in the Library) and I have the opportunity to show off our school to prospective parents.  If anyone you know is considering our school for kindergarten (or any grade) next year, let them know that they should absolutely come for a visit to get a feel of the campus, our staff, and our kids.

May you have a restful break with friends and family, and a reasonable amount of sugary treats – you’ve probably earned it :)
