December Newsletter 2017

Dear Phoebe Parents,

Happy Holidays! With the first trimester behind us, let’s look to all of the things happening around campus:

Congratulations are in order to the Reigning Phoebots (pronounced ‘fee-bots’), our very own First Lego League Robotics team, who qualified for the Northern California regional championships after a successful competition over Thanksgiving break against other area teams.  The team, led by Marco Martinez and Sarah Z’Berg, used teamwork, engineering skills, presentational skills, and research skills to prevail – kudos to Diego Martinez-Vaughan, Harrison Z’Berg, Jolie Dang, Ruby Tragsiel, Tariq Ibrahim, and Amelia Gordon!  We’re proud of you!

Our little Dragons are putting on “Alice in Wonderland Jr” this weekend at the 24th Street Theater (2791 24th Street). They have been working hard since September with the skilled folks at Young Actors Stage to bring you this show, and tickets are still available.  Visit to get your tickets and we’ll see you there!

This month, we are excited about a goods drive to benefit the Mustard Seed School and Loaves and Fishes.  In addition to the proceeds of the Craft Fair, each grade will be assigned different item donations which can be sent with your child December 4th – 13th.  Each class will be decorating collection boxes (the boxes demonstrating the most creativity and spirit will win that class a free dress day!) and it is important to note that all items are to be NEW only.

Kinder: Socks

1st: Toothbrushes and toothpaste

2nd: Bubble bath, body wash, soap

3rd: Cotton swabs, hand sanitizer

4th: Shampoo and conditioner

5th: Body lotion, washcloths

6th: Healthy packaged snacks

Participating in the drive and supporting the Winter Craft Fair (December 13th from 6-8pm) are two easy ways to give back this holiday season, so thank you in advance!

On Monday, the clothes in the Lost and Found in the cafeteria will be put out on the benches for parents to peruse and then claim – any unclaimed items will be donated to local clothes lockers after Monday.

Also, the link to the Cotton Shoppe is open again for holiday shopping – use this link through December 14th to get warm Phoebe gear for the winter!

Finally, attached to this email are the new flyers for Art with Ms. Jane and Mrs. Kukas’ Yoga class, as well as the PTO Newsletter from your hard working president, Jenny Simmons.
